A guest on Dr. Phil had her world turned upside down after finding out her 49-year-old dad was dating her 23-year-old best friend. To make things even wilder? Her ex-friend is now pregnant with his baby. A young American woman named Joni says her “heart sank to her stomach” when she learned about their relationship. She revealed that she introduced her ex-friend, Gina, to her father, David, on New Year’s Eve, and they came into a relationship behind her back.
While speaking with Dr. Phil on the CBS show, a disappointed Joni stated that she felt deceived by both of them after learning about her father’s and her best friend’s shocking affair. She said, “I feel betrayed and disrespected by both of them; it feels like a slap in the face.” Joni revealed that she and Gina were inseparable and often went on holidays, family functions, and nights out together.
However, Joni said her strong bond with her friend and father was destroyed because of their relationship. While she admitted having a strained relationship with her dad, she claimed that his decision to date Gina has made things even worse. During her appearance on the CBS show, she said, “I’m very p**d off at the relationship my dad has with Gina. I do not support it.”
The Dr. Phil guest went on to claim that Gina is a “gold-dig*er” and wanted to “build herself a better life” and started dating her father after seeing “dollar signs.” She alleged, “She kept complimenting his house and just continued about it,” before dating for around four months after their introduction. Joni claimed that her “dad is being very naïve about this relationship” and that “he needs to wake up.”
Nevertheless, Gina refuted these allegations, insisting that she is a licensed cosmetologist and works at a salon. “I’m making my own money,” she stressed, further adding that Gina “exaggerated” the story about their close friendship. She also retorted that her and David’s relationship should not be anybody’s business, exclaiming, “Everyone needs to mind their own business. It’s David, and I’s relationship. I don’t wake up and think about these people every morning, so why are they thinking about me?”
She stressed that Joni’s assertions that she has been in a relationship with her father for the sake of money “pi**es” her off. She claimed to have a “healthy relationship,” divulging how they went for a vacation to different places, including Tulum, Mexico, New York, and Disney. “We’re always on the go, doing something out of our home state.”
Gina also asserted that she wasn’t a “desperate single mother seeking a sugar daddy,” adding, “That’s not true. It’s 100% false.” According to her, she wanted to tell her former friend about the relationship at the “right time.” Meanwhile, Joni’s father, David, who is a softball coach, also suggests that he is happy in the relationship despite his daughter’s disapproval.
“I’ve dated younger women, but when there’s a connection between a man and woman, the age shouldn’t matter. Gina and I have a great relationship, even though there is an age gap.”
During the conversation, Jina also mentioned that she has no plans for marriage as yet, but will be moving in with David soon.
