It’s official, not only did the Indianapolis Colts cut quarterback Peyton Manning two days ago, they also announced today that they are dropping tight end, Dallas Clark, and three other fan favorites: running back Joseph Addai, linebacker Gary Brackett, and safety Melvin Bullitt. This decision comes after the Colt’s worst season in over two decades. After this most recent announcement, it is safe to say that the Colts are attempting to wipe their slate clean.

Not only are players being dropped, but Bill Polin, along with his son Chris were fired the day after the season ended. Coach Jim Caldwell and most of his staff can also be found perusing the, “help wanted” section. New general manager Ryan Grigson said of the changes that, “It’s not easy. It’s agonizing. They’re (salary) cap casualties. It’s hard, but with the money involved you can’t do certain things.”

During their time with Indianapolis, each of these former players contributed significantly to the team. Huffington Post reports that, “Clark spent nine years with the Colts, setting team records and creating a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses as he caught 427 passes for 4,887 yards and 46 touchdowns. He became the second tight end in NFL history to tally 100-plus receptions and was chosen for the Pro Bowl in 2009.” The statistics for each of these now former Colts players is incredible, and they were also significant members of the Indianapolis community.

Fans are sure to be incredibly upset in the coming days, first with the loss of their favorite Quarterback Peyton Manning, who still holds the record for most MVP Awards (four), and also with the loss of four long-time, influential members. It will likely be an interesting, and very bumpy ride, as the team finds new members, and works to recover from their worst season in decades.

Do you think that Colts GM Ryan Grigson and Team Owner Jim Irsay are making the right decision in getting rid of so many key players?
