OMG, the Cory Booker-related lulz.
You might have just heard of Cory Booker today, if you are not from the area. As a former Newark resident, I’ve been swooning over the hottie mayor of Jersey’s most mocked city since I resided there for a brief time in 2007. Booker is young and handsome, and unusually accessible and hands-on for a mayor of a large city. In the past, he’s been involved in all sorts of awesome shenanigans- from personally arranging for items to be obtained for weather stranded Newark residents to a hilarious on-air fight with Conan O’Brien in which the he banned the talk-show host from traveling through Newark’s airport .
But Cory Booker became a household name last night when he wrested the hero-crown from Ryan Gosling by rushing into a building blaze to save a Newark resident from the fire himself . Booker rushed past his own security detail, dreamboating into the inferno and attempting a rescue on his way back from a television appearance.
Now, in addition to nationwide badass status, Booker has also achieved level 99 coolness among Twitter users by becoming a meme. All over the microblog, Cory Booker’s awesome antics have made him the subject of Chuck Norris-like joking, the best of which we’ve collected for you below:
