Ceiria A. Woodland, 30, was arrested for stabbing her husband at a Gurnee hotel in Illinois.
The incident took place on February 15, 2023, when police responded to a domestic dispute call to the Super 8 hotel, 5520 Grand Avenue in Gurnee, where they found Woodland’s husband injured in the bushes.
The witness also reported to the police that they were pushing each other back and forth. During the fight, Woodland stabbed her husband, which resulted in a wound on his hand.
Woodland had multiple explanations behind her husband’s injury. At first, she told them he got hurt from the bushes and claimed he had a drinking problem.
She offered another explanation that he ran away with the pizza and fell into the bushes. She told the officers, “The man is bleeding because his a– cut himself on the damn bushes over there.”
“Baby, I didn’t stab that damn man,” she continued. During the interrogation, Woodland wanted to go back to the hotel room to rest. The officer told her, “We’re not throwing you on the ground, anything like that, right? We have to follow up here and there.”
Her husband told the officers a different story, involving a third person. However, in the end, the witness statement helped narrow down what unfolded.
Police arrested Woodland on two counts of domestic battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and violation of an order of protection.
According to prosecutors, the victim has an active protection order against her. She was held in custody on a $100,000 cash bond with a preliminary hearing set for March 15.
The bodycam video was uploaded on PoliceCam Busts and has gained more than 3,300 views. Viewers critcized Woodland for lying multiple times and acting “casual.” A user wrote, “She’s lying. Always an elaborate, ridiculous story.” Another one added, “She claimed that was her husband with her whole chest but claims she doesn’t know where he is.”
“She’s acting way too casual about her stabbed husband. She just wanted to smoke and go to sleep. Sounds suspicious to me,” added one more. Another viewer chimed in, “Deep inside, I think she already knew she was going to get locked up. But she had to try, thinking maybe the officers were dumb cops. Big mistake.”
