Since the release of the Epstein files in late January 2026, Donald Trump has faced sustained criticism. However, things could become even more difficult for him when former president Bill Clinton testifies before a congressional committee about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

The Epstein files drew widespread attention when they were released last month, resulting in 3.5 million pages of information being made public. The disclosure led to numerous high-profile names being identified, some of whom were later arrested. With the former president set to give a deposition, it could reignite political tensions once again.

Bill and Hillary Clinton will testify before Congress without live transmission, potentially strengthening their public image despite the scandal. 🗣️

The former president’s deposition will follow Hillary Clinton‘s testimony. According to CNN, neither Clinton nor Donald Trump has been accused by law enforcement authorities in relation to the Epstein files. Since the files were made public by the United States Department of Justice, the committee would likely be interested in what he has to say.

He has been seen in several pictures included in the files. Additionally, his past connection with Jeffrey Epstein could draw interest from the committee. Hillary Clinton has also previously said she had no knowledge of Epstein’s illegal conduct or alleged child trafficking activities.

What makes Bill Clinton’s testimony more significant is that Trump refused a subpoena to testify before a House committee in 2021. He went beyond that and sued to block the summons, leading to a constitutional dispute that was ultimately withdrawn when the committee’s work ended.

With some Democrats distancing themselves from the former president, who had ties to the disgraced financier, they have emphasized that they will deepen the probe related to the Epstein files if they win the upcoming midterm elections. Critics have suggested that renewed congressional control could increase pressure on Trump.

If Democrats were to take control of the House of Representatives, Trump could potentially be summoned to testify. That would likely prompt further legal and constitutional debates over executive authority and congressional oversight.

This move complicates Donald Trump’s future after his presidential term ends. James Comer, House Oversight Committee Chairman, denied that he was running a partisan investigation, saying, “This isn’t just Democrats.” He mentioned that the panel had previously heard from former AG Bill Barr and former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta.

What connected the two men was that they had served during Trump’s first term. The latter personality had signed off on a controversial state plea deal for Jeffrey Epstein in 2008. The Clintons’ desperate attempt to avoid testimony and to denounce it as a partisan attempt.

This move was an attempt to divert attention from the President over the Epstein files. Clinton’s deposition will cover more ground and perhaps make moves that will arrest the names involved alongside Jeffrey Epstein.
