Lady Gaga watch out, Betty White is coming for your Twitter crown. The legendary comedian joined the social networking site yesterday and has already gathered more than 140,000 followers.
White sent out her first Tweet yesterday morning, saying :
“Hello Twitter! And they said it would never happen. Oh wait, that was me.”
The Golden Girl is following about 40 people, including People Magazine, Jimmy Fallon, and Jay Leno, and has sent out three tweets. It’s unclear if White is actually using the social networking site or if she’s having an assistant send out her messages.
So far, White has used her account to promote her new show.
White writes:
“My new show “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” airs 8 PM tomorrow on NBC… I’m new at this… ;)”
Followed by:
“My new show airs tomorrow and I hear we’re in the same time slot,” she tweeted him. “I’ve always dreamed of sharing a night with you.”
Lady Gaga currently has more than 20 million followers so Betty White has a long way to go to reach the top of the Twitterverse.
