On July 24, Arkansas witnessed a scene straight out of a Final Destination movie. Ronald Langley, a 56-year-old Bella Vista native, abided by all the traffic rules and still could not escape an accident that claimed his life.

At around 2:00 p.m. a truck carrying two portable toilets was driving south in the middle lane of Interstate 49 near Bentonville. As the truck was moving, one of the portable toilets fell off into the road near mile marker 86. Shortly after, Langley hit the toilet with his vehicle. He ended up sustaining fatal injuries and was rushed to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Vehicle 1 was traveling southbound in the middle lane on Interstate 49, near mile marker 86, carrying two portable toilets. One of the portable toilets fell into the middle lane of the roadway. Vehicle 2 struck the portable toilet, sustaining fatal injuries,” the Arkansas Department of Public Safety said in its official statement.

It is uncertain whether the driver of the truck faced any legal consequences.

Langley’s wife and daughter have a hard time dealing with the sudden death. He was the only provider for his family. The Langleys, who had been struggling financially even before his passing, have now set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the immediate expenses. “Ronald Langley tragically lost his life in a highway accident. Ronald took every precaution he could, but unfortunately, due to someone else’s negligence, he lost his life and left his wife without a breadwinner.”

“Unfortunately, this all took place during a difficult financial and occupational time that left them without insurance to cover the costs of funeral services and life after the loss of such an integral person in their life. Jessica and Sara Langley are struggling to balance time to grieve and financial struggles. Asking for anything that you can spare in order to give these two amazing women security and financial security. Thank you,” the page states.

Social media users extended their condolences to the Langley family while criticizing the other driver for negligence. Many netizens noted that proper precautions could have prevented the fatal accident. One commentator on Facebook wrote, “Obviously, the porta potties weren’t tied down therefore, that driver should have some type of ramifications for this.”

An Instagram user added, “And now I won’t only be scared of log trucks but also port-a-potties on the highway.” “This is the exact reason that I hate following behind trucks carrying open cargo.. you never know if everything is tied down well.. that’s awful. Prayers for the friends and family,” said a separate user. Another user strictly criticized those making fun of Langley’s death. “Praying for the Family of the Motorcycle Ridee. People got jokes until it’s one their own, it’s astonishing what this society has become.”
