Amy Adams, typically seen in “nice girl” roles throughout Hollywood big budget movies has signed on for a role in “Boogie Nights’ director Paul Thomas Anderson’s yet to be titled film based on the controversial practice of scientology.
Adams will film her role before she begins work on her already announced role in “Man Of Steel.”
According to the movie synopsis Adams will play the wife of a Navy veteran (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) who started the religion in the 1950’s. As any follower of the religion will note the founder of the actual “religion” is L. Ron Hubbard.
Also joining the cast is Joaquin Phoenix who will play Freddie, the protege to Hoffman’s character who eventually ends up questioning the movement.
You may recall that Hoffman and Adams have teamed up before in a religion movie, 2008’s “Doubt.”
Before she appears in the controversial role you can find Adams in Jason Segel’s “The Muppets.”
