Katy Perry To Release Second Concert Documentary For Prismatic Tour

When Katy Perry released her Part of Me concert movie, it bombed at the box office, but proved it had staying power on VOD and on Netflix. Due to this, Perry is gearing up to release her second concert documentary, as she’s about to start her leg of her Australian tour to support Prism.

According to an Australian news outlet, while Perry is in Australia, her Sydney concerts will be taped for her second concert movie. This is the first time we’re hearing about Perry putting out another concert film, and while the singer didn’t speak about the upcoming movie, she did sound excited about touring Australia for six weeks.

“I feel like I am doing a residency here. The wonderful thing about this is I am a sun child and I get two summers in one year and this feels gluttonous.”

She continued, “All the shows will be sold out, there’s just a few sprinkles of tickets left and that is so exciting. All the shows will be sold out, there’s just a few sprinkles of tickets left and that is so exciting.”

Considering this is the first we’re hearing about Katy’s second concert film, we don’t know what creative direction this one will go. In her first film, Part of Me, her marriage to Russell Brand crumbled while she was on tour, and much of the fallout was captured on camera.

This time around, Perry and musician John Mayer broke up right before she started her tour. That said, there’s still plenty to catch this time around. If she allows, we may get to see her fleeting romance with rapper Riff Raff or her on-again-off-again relationship with DJ Diplo.

However, she may shield her personal life from being the center of the documentary. Perry had to deal with several rounds of press after her divorce from Brand, and her new album, plus her documentary, only extended the time she had to spend talking about her failed marriage. By the time she was ready to promote Prism, she was pretty much done with talking about the past, even though some songs still lingered back to the troubling time.

Either way, it should still make for a very visually exciting documentary given the context of the material.
