Years on, John McEnroe still at it

Tennis great John McEnroe has defaulted in his opening match at a Champions Cup event after an argument with the chair umpire ended with McEnroe making “an obscene gesture toward the crowd.”

McEnroe contested a call in his opening match against MaliVai Washington when the umpire warned him for swearing. McEnroe then decided to argue with the Umpire and was issued two code violations. Fans didn’t find the dispute endearing and started booing McEnroe, resulting in the obscene gesture and an automatic forfeit.

After all these years, nothing seems to have dimmed the Tennis legend. I can’t find footage of the incident, but a best of John McEnroe tantrums video from YouTube below if you’re too old to remember him at his peak.
