A Kroger supermarket in Houston witnessed a rather disturbing incident wherein a Black woman was verbally abused by a fellow White shopper. The woman, namely Shonna Hackney, took to her social media handle to share the video of the incident. It all started after she reached the self-checkout kiosk to unload her shopped items while the man was wrapping up his belongings.

In the video, the man can be seen arguing with the clerk of the supermarket, who seemingly became concerned about Hackney’s safety. However, the man can be seen telling the guard that he did not attempt to hit the woman.

But the video soon shows the man hurling abuses at Hackney, after which he can be seen taking his trolley and exiting the supermarket. The man could be seen aggressively charging at Hackney’s camera, yelling abusive words.

In the caption of her post, Shonna also explained the incident in detail. She highlighted the entire incident as one that tested her patience, but her self-control won in the end. She recalled how she started unloading her belongings at the kiosk while the man was bagging his stuff. She specified that her things were nowhere close to his.

She then mentioned that out of nowhere, the man started abusing and yelling at her. He furthermore started throwing her things after trying to hit her almost three times. Her post read, “started cursing, yelling, and even throwing my stuff. Then he got in my face—pointing, shouting, and attempting to hit me three times at a very close range before security stepped in.”

As seen in the video, the clerk then came to her rescue and led the man out of the supermarket. While the man was exiting the same, Shonna could be seen saying, “God Bless You, Sir, God Bless You.” Take a look at her post.

Meanwhile, her post witnessed loads of reactions from concerned netizens. Most of them were left praising her self-control and restraint. One of the netizens stated, “He got his blood pressure all the way high lol.” While another user added, “Baby, I don’t know if God is done working on me yet because I just don’t know if I would have been able to remain as calm. Sister, God bless YOU.”

Another netizen, however, thought it was not a very good idea to wish the man while he was exiting. The comment said, “I wouldn’t have wished him a good blessing at all, we have GOT to stop blessing the enemy.” However, a user commented that it was wrong on Shonna Hackney’s part to “invade the privacy” of the man while he was collecting his items.

The comment said, “She was wrong for approaching and beginning to check her items out before he finished bagging his items and left the checkout counter, that’s an invasion of personal space and privacy. He might have decided to grab another item at the checkout for that matter; however, he was wrong in his response and could have said Please wait until I’m done. There is a “wait here” sign for a reason; I would have been bothered, too. Meanwhile, it is still not known whether the woman who is the host of the Soulful Conversations podcast has decided to press charges against the man or not.
