West Virginia’s Alexzandrea Thomas did not live a normal childhood like kids of her age. She was se*ually exploited by the very man who was supposed to protect her. Thomas’ father, Kenneth Ray Cook, a West Virginia resident, impregnated his biological daughter and subjected her to irreparable trauma for a long time.

Cook reportedly began se*ually assaulting his daughter in 2012 when she was just nine years old and continued until the age of 21. Strictly controlling her life, he denied her basic freedoms like having a phone, driving, or making friends. The abuse went on for years; Cook reportedly fathered three children with his daughter.

Even as a child, Thomas knew she needed to get out, so she began asking for help. She reported the abuse to teachers, police officers, counselors, and child protective services. However, no one believed her. Her paternal grandmother, who worked closely with local child welfare agencies, used her influence to convince authorities that Cook was innocent and the child was making up stories for attention.

Thomas shared the ordeal in a Facebook post, which was later deleted. “When my grandpa found out what was happening, he didn’t even look surprised. The last time I told a guidance counselor what was happening and CPS was called, my grandma had it swept under the rug, and my dad told me if I ever told again, he knew ways to get me erased,” she said. “I wasn’t allowed to have a phone, vehicle, or anything; he did his absolute most to keep me from anyone on my mom’s side of the family. When he saw how I got attached to our neighbor he told me he was going to end up shooting him and forced me to leave the room when he came down so I wouldn’t say anything.”

Thomas added in a now-deleted Facebook post, “My youngest was born with health issues and stayed in the hospital the first week of his life but wasn’t allowed to go to the doctors afterwards bc he was scared of the truth of what he had done leaking out, I was nursing a sick baby on my own who desperately needed medical attention. So messaging telling me he is a monster doesn’t help; I KNOW he is a monster. I had to live with and survive that monster.”

She also shared about her thoughts of ending her life, while urging people to leave her be and let her heal from her wounds. “Y’all don’t know how many times I’ve considered taking my life bc I was afraid it would never end…I will never forget or forgive what he’s done, but I’m doing all I can to heal from it,” she wrote.

The truth finally came to light when her youngest child became seriously ill and required medical care. Hospital staff grew suspicious and ordered DNA testing, which proved that Cook was the father of Thomas’ child.

Police arrested Kenneth Cook on multiple severe charges, including child neglect, parental abuse, three counts of incest, se*ual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian to a child, se*ual assault in the third degree, and 149 counts of gross neglect of a child creating a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury. A judge set Cook’s bond at $500,000, and he remains behind bars awaiting trial.

Thomas has been struggling to reclaim her lost years. She even set up a GoFundMe to seek financial help so she can go back to her normal life.

“My name is Alexzandrea. I was a victim of R*pe by my father for 13 years. I’m just starting to get out and live life on my own, and I am struggling. Normally, I do not ever ask for help, but I’m truly grateful for any and every ounce of help I may receive. Also, I would like to thank everyone who has shown me support through all of this. I will never be able to explain to you all how much it means to me, but I appreciate you all more than you may know! Thank you all, much love—Alex,” the post reads.

The story sent shockwaves across social media, netizens calling for accountability. “The hospital that she delivered three children at should be sued,” one commentator wrote on YouTube. Another added, “No one asked how this little girl had three children with no father. Was she going to school pregnant? Who was her doctor?” A third comment read, “I have a hard time believing a teacher wouldn’t believe this child. Her grandma must have been very convincing.”
