In a story straight out of the deepest recesses of the WTF files, Wells Fargo Bank has filed a lawsuit against itself.
Wells Fargo Bank filed a civil complaint against itself in a mortgage foreclosure case in Hillsborough County, Florida due to what the bank claims is a requirement under local law. “Due to state foreclosure laws, lenders are obligated to name and notify subordinate lien holders,” a Wells Fargo spokesman told Fox Business.
Wells Fargo holds the first and second mortgages on the condominium, as holder of the first, Wells Fargo is suing all other lien holders, including the holder of the second, which is itself. Court documents label “Wells Fargo Bank NA” as the plaintiff and “Wells Fargo Bank NA” as a defendant.
The bank has even hired defense lawyers and has filed a defense answer to their own complaint.
