Italian model Vanessa Hessler has been fired from her job as the face of Telecommunications firm Telefonica Germany for her recent comments showing support of the Gaddafi family, according to a report by the UK’s Daily Telegraph .
When asked by Italian magazine Diva e Donna about her four-year relationship with Moammar Gaddafi’s son Muatassim (who was killed earlier this month after being captured along side his father ), the 23-year-old model said:
“I didn’t have any contact with him since the uprising broke out, but our relationship was one of passion. The Gaddafi family is not as they are being depicted, they are normal people.”
Hessler also reportedly said that she was “crying for Libya,” adding that the rebels are “people who don’t know what they’re doing.”
Following Vanessa’s Pro-Gaddafi comments, Telefonica Germany spokesman Albert Fetsch said on Sunday that the company expected the model-turned-actress to separate herself from her remarks, emphasizing that her comments in no way reflected the company’s position.
One day later Hessler was fired for “refusing to distance herself from her comments on the conflict in Libya.”
