Donald Trump has been trolled on social media numerous times for appreciating “muscular men,” and it looks like the president made matters even weirder while addressing the U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets.
During his address, the president said he was having a “little fun” as he called multiple men on stage and praised their physiques.
According to The New York Post, Trump began a series of compliments by calling Matthew Lanzilotta of Virginia Beach on stage. Matthew was the top academic achiever in the graduating batch of 2026 and was “extremely good looking,” according to Trump.
“Come on, get up here. I want to see this guy,” Trump began as he called the young graduate on stage and the audience clapped.
As the young cadet arrived on stage and greeted Trump with a smile, the president appeared to say a few words off-mic as Matthew returned to his seat. However, as Matthew walked off the stage, Trump said, “I hate good-looking men.” He then thanked Matthew as he called upon “the only cadet who earned a perfect score on every single fitness test.”
Trump: I hate good looking men. We also have the only cadet who earned a perfect score on every single fitness test. I wanna check him out. Look at the muscles on this guy. pic.twitter.com/UwyQg5EuWo

Trump called the cadet on stage as he said, “This guy must be something, I wanna check him out.” Thomas Rhodes of Last Forest Park, who is a wrestler, then walked on stage as he greeted Trump with a smile. With Rhodes, Trump’s string of praises began as he made his way to the stage. “When I gotta fight with him, I’m not fighting him,” Trump said as he applauded Rhoades.
“This is not UFC. Please understand that, Thomas,” Trump said as he greeted Rhodes on stage, patting him on the shoulder. As Rhodes made his way back to his seat, the president yet again remarked, “Look at the muscles on this guy. I just hit him on the shoulder. I hurt my hand. It’s like hitting a rock!”
Zohran Mamdani’s message to Donald Trump after his historic NYC mayoral win:
“New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant. So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: to get to any of us,… pic.twitter.com/Ww8qphYjhd

The internet has noticed that Donald Trump’s tone changes significantly around good-looking young men. A similar incident happened when the president met New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has been a staunch critic of the Trump administration. Trump had been a staunch critic of Mamdani when he was elected.
“Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
The president even claimed that Mamdani was in the U.S. “illegally” and that they were going to “look at everything.” However, Trump’s tone shifted drastically after meeting the mayor. “I think this mayor can do some things that are going to be really great,” Trump said while praising Mamdani. “The better he does, the happier I am. I feel very confident that he can do a very good job.”
