Tiger Woods announced today on his website that he will be playing in the next three PGA tour events, including the Honda Classic, where he hasn’t played since he was still an amateur.
“I’m excited about my start and look forward to keep building. I’ve made great strides from last year and hopefully all my hard work will pay off with a victory soon.”
Tiger will start his three PGA Tour stretch next week at the World Golf Championships where he has won at the event three times. The Miami Herald reports that Tiger is currently ranked 18th in the world which will probably land him the No. 4 seed at the event.
Woods will then play at the Honda Classic. The last time Woods played the Honda Classic was in 1993.
Tiger said:
“I’ve heard great things about the Honda Classic, and now that I live here, I want to play whenever possible. Jack’s [Nicklaus] involvement in the tournament and the benefits to the local community are also important.”
TSN reports that the Honda Classic is the second time this year that Woods will travel to a tournament that isn’t typically on his schedule. Last week he played at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for the first time in 1o years.
He played the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am last week for the first time in 10 years, closing with a 75 to plummet from contention.
Following the Honda Classic he will play at the WGC – Cadillac Championship where he has won six times. Woods also holds the 36, 54, and 72 hole scoring record at Doral.
