Rising star The Weeknd is working on a follow-up album to the major success of his debut release, House of Balloons. The only downside is, The Weeknd isn’t telling anyone when it’s coming out.
According to Revolt, the R&B artist is slated to release his second full length LP via Republic Records. Strangely, The Weeknd didn’t announce the information himself. An executive from Republic Records casually revealed that a new album from Abel Tesfaye was on its way in a recent tweet.
I just worked out to the craziest @theweeknd song ever. Can’t wait for you to hear it in June!

All the Republic Records EVP did was announce a brand new “crazy” single coming out in June, but some fans believe this implies that The Weeknd has a whole list of songs in the works.
While it is possible that the “craziest The Weeknd song” ever will stand alone, a tweet from the artist himself suggests there might be a sophomore record on the way — even if it takes awhile. In response to Charlie Walk’s reveal, several news sites claimed to have exclusive info on the new album, saying that it would be released sometime in late August, according to Vibe. The Weeknd then took it upon himself to shoot down the rumors of an August release, but didn’t deny the production of the record itself.
information about my album date is false. i apologize to the fans for the inconvenience. XO

Fans have scrutinized this tweet closely, noting that Tesfaye’s use of the words “my album” does suggest a record is in the making. But it’s clear that the recording artist has no intention of providing the true release date any time soon. Maybe when that “crazy” single drops, The Weeknd fans will have more new information. Until then, they at least have a new song to look forward to.
