‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Almost Starred Clint Eastwood’s Son — He Doesn’t Regret Turning It Down

Fifty Shades of Grey had a lot of trouble finding the right cast. After several actresses turned down the role of Anastasia Steele, the filmmakers settled for Dakota Johnson. But, casting Christian Grey was even trickier. Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy agreed to star in Fifty Shades, but had to drop out due to his hectic schedule. But one notable actor was asked to read for the role but decided to turn it down. And it just so happened to be the son of American Sniper director Clint Eastwood, Scott Eastwood.

According to the International Business Times, Scott Eastwood has only recently opened up about his decision to stay away from Fifty Shades of Grey. Despite its record-breaking success in the box office, Eastwood claims he’s happy with his decision not to play Christian Grey. One reason he turned down the role was because the script hadn’t been written yet. Even worse, the people behind Fifty Shades of Grey expected Scott to appear completely naked.

“They had asked me to come in and read and test for it. But they had no script,” Scott Eastwood explained. “I won’t do a movie where there is no script. I am not going to get locked in. And they wanted full frontal nudity. There were just some things about it that were not for me.”

According to USA Today, Eastwood seemed excited by the prospect of starring in Fifty Shades when he was first approached. The actor posted a photo to his Instagram account of himself reading the original Fifty Shades of Grey novel, teasing that he might portray the seductive billionaire. But that part ultimately went to Jamie Dornan, who joined co-star Dakota Johnson in international fame (and probably fortune).

Despite the massive success of the film, Eastwood says he doesn’t regret turning it down because it just wasn’t a job he wanted to do.

“It’s not a bad thing. The movie made a ton of money. It’s been a success. It just wasn’t for me. It was not something I wanted to do. I just didn’t enter the running. It was like, ‘Okay, thank you.’ “

Scott Eastwood has said he’s not eager to see Fifty Shades of Grey in theaters either, opting to wait for the film to arrive on television.

“I’ll have to wait for it to get onto my home channels,” he said.

Jamie Dornan will be reprising his role as Christian Grey in the sequel Fifty Shades Darker, decidedly sticking with the franchise despite rumors to the contrary.
