Teresa Stone plead guilty on Wednesday to conspiracy to murder in the March 2010 shooting death of her husband, Randy Stone. Stone was shot to death by Teresa’s lover, and church minister, David Love.
Teresa, age 40, is currently free on bond while she awaits sentencing, which was scheduled for June 15th by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Marco Roldan. Love pleaded guilty to secondd-degree murder and armed criminal action, and is currently serving a life prison sentence.
Love, who was once the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Independence Missouri, moved to South Carolina shortly after Randy’s death.
The former preacher even delivered part of Randy Stone’s eulogy, and got away with murder until November 2010, when a jury indicted him on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to a report in the Kansas City Star earlier this year, Part of David Love’s eulogy at Stone’s funeral was:
“We come to the word of God to try to reconcile the difference between man’s point of view that death seems so permanent and God’s point of view that death is precious. We sit here and we weep not just because of the separation from our loved one, but because of all the questions that death brings, questions like ‘Why? Why him? Why now?’”
Randy and Teresa Stone were childhood sweethearts, married for 20 years, until Stone was found murdered in his insurance agency office on March 31, 2010. Shortly after his death, Teresa described him as a wonderful, loving husband. While Teresa did not admit her reasons for conspiring to murder Randy, she teared up at the hearing on Wednesday. It was also brought to light that, while Teresa and Randy’s marriage seemed good, she and David Love were long-time lovers.
Randy’s mother, Clara Koehler, said that it was very difficult to watch Teresa admit her role in her husband’s death. Koehler said:
“Believe me, it was no picnic. It was hard, a whole lot harder than it was with David (Love), but that’s probably because Teresa was my daughter-in-law. We are all just trying to get through it.”
