The mysterious death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship has now taken a disturbing turn after reports revealed that her body was found hidden in a cabin under a bed. FBI is one the case.
According to The Daily Mail, citing two anonymous sources, Anna’s body was found wrapped in a blanket and covered with life jackets. The discovery raised legitimate questions, including how she died and why her remains were concealed. This shocking discovery has now prompted the FBI to conduct a more thorough investigation, as they are the investigating authorities since Anna’s death occurred in international waters.
Anna was a Georgia Bulldogs fan and an aspiring military recruit. She was enjoying a family vacation on the $800 million cruise liner when this unfortunate event happened. While Miami-Dade investigators have confirmed that she died on November 7, the cause behind her death remains under wraps.

Sources spoke to the Daily Mail about the incident and said that Anna did not feel well the evening before her death while dining on the ship. As a result, she excused herself and retired early to her room to rest. The next morning, November 7, her father, 41-year-old Christopher Kepner, and her 36-year-old stepmother, Shauntel Hudson, went to have breakfast and expected that Anna would also join them.
As she did not join her family, panic began, and everyone started to look for her. The ship’s crew also joined in the search. After hours of searching, at around 11:00 a.m., a maid entered the cabin to clean it, and that was when she discovered Anna’s body under the bed, wrapped in bedding and partially covered with life jackets.
The discovery was utterly shocking and left both investigators and Anna’s family confused. Details regarding how the body reached there or how long it was kept there remain unknown.
Christopher Kepner spoke to the Daily Mail about receiving some updates from the police. He said, “The FBI hasn’t shared anything with me yet. I would imagine they’re going to be in contact with me about it – but I know as little as everybody else.” He further added, “Everybody who came off that ship had been questioned. I don’t know who they are looking at or what their investigation is.”

The Carnival Horizon had to cut its six-day-long Caribbean cruise short to return to Miami the very next day after Anna’s body was discovered so that investigators could begin. The FBI has confirmed that they have taken charge of the case. However, no major updates have yet been shared.
While the possibility of foul play has not yet been addressed or discussed by the FBI, Anna’s family continues mourning her. Her stepmother gave one interview to ABC News and urged for privacy during such a tough time.
She also posted a touching message on Facebook, linking to Anna’s obituary. She wrote, “This is something I never imagined I’d have to post. Anna Marie, I love you so much. This world will never be the same without you.”
With the ongoing FBI investigation, it now remains to be seen what new information about Anna’s death comes to light.
