From the surveillance footage of the night when Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos may have identified the clothing and backpack worn by the suspect. Sheriff Nanos believes this is one of the most promising leads in the case of the missing mother of Savannah Guthrie.
Investigators in the search for Nancy Guthrie believe they know where the alleged armed assailant in the surveillance footage bought his clothing. According to CBS News, the footage was taken on the front porch of Nancy’s house in the middle of the night, offering authorities new clues relating to his identity.
According to Sheriff Nanos, the zip-up fleece jacket, pants and ski mask worn by the alleged kidnapper were purchased from Walmart. Meanwhile, the backpack he was carrying, a black Ozark Trail Hiker, was also supplied by Walmart.

However, if is as yet unknown whether the alleged kidnapper purchase the items online or at a store. Moreover, knowing which store would be valuable in the case. Investigators have spend a number of days looking closely at surveillance video footage from Walmart Stores in Arizona. While it won’t quickly solve the case, Nanos said this is the most promising lead so far.
Moreover, on Friday, February 13, another promising lead surfaced, when the Sheriff’s Department found “DNA other than Nancy Guthrie’s and those in close contact to her has been collected from the property.”
“Investigators are working to identify who it belongs to. We are not disclosing where that DNA was located.”
According to authorities, “several gloves” were found during their investigations, with the closest found around two miles from Nancy’s home.
Police also said that “several gloves” were found during the investigation, with the closest found approximately two miles from Nancy’s Tucson home. According to the FBI, the gloves had a DNA profile that “appears to match” gloves worn by the suspect in previously released surveillance footage.
Nancy was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, after she was dropped off by her family on the evening of Saturday, January 31. Authorities believe she was kidnapped in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 1.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, February 10, officials released surveillance photos and video footage of an armed individual on Nancy’s front porch. The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared the images and video to social media, revealing a person in a ski mask, zip-up jacket, gloves and a backpack as they approach Nancy’s front porch.
According to CBS, Walmart has given law enforcement records of all online and in-store purchases of the Ozark Trail Hiker backpack in recent months, including other locations outside of the Tucson area. Detectives believe the face mask is black, but appears lighter due to the Nest camera which uses infrared technology.
Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, 54, shared an Instagram post minutes after the new photos were released, captioning it, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”
