The United States Secret Service broke up a protest being held in front of the White House on Saturday, calling on President Obama to fire Attorney General Eric Holder. Eric Holder has recently been held in Contempt of Congress for his failure to release key documents in the government’s failed Fast and Furious gun running operation.
According to a report from in front of the White House, the Secret Service claimed they had discovered a “suspicious package,” and then shut the protest down before it really got going.
Maurice Lewis, a University of California student, told Campus Reform ,
“Several agents seemed hostile to our march and seemed anxious for us to leave the area. The discover[y of] the ‘unidentified package’ came just as the protest began gain traction.”
The protestors were not just out in force because Holder had been held in Contempt of Congress, they were also angry at President Obama’s attempt to protect Holder by exerting Executive Privilege and denying Congress the documentation that they say cost a Border Control agent his life.
As reported earlier in the Inquisitr ,Michael Steel, a spokesman for Speaker Boehner said,
“Until now, everyone believed that the decisions regarding ‘Fast and Furious’ were confined to the Department of Justice. The White House decision to invoke executive privilege implies that White House officials were either involved in the ‘Fast and Furious’ operation or the cover-up that followed. The Administration has always insisted that wasn’t the case. Were they lying, or are they now bending the law to hide the truth?”
About 50 students congregated outside the White House this morning for the anti-Holder protest.
