Scientists turn tequila into diamonds

Mexican scientists have found a new use for tequila: turning it into diamonds instead of blurry nights and savage hangovers.

The scientists found that heated vapor from common brand Tequila Blanco, when deposited on a stainless steel base, can form diamond films.

Before you rush out and by Tequila to cook your own diamonds for that special person in your life, the end result isn’t as exciting as it seems, because the diamond crystals produced are too small to use in Jewelry.

The tequila diamonds could be used to “detect radiation, coat cutting tools or, above all, as a substitute for silicon in the computer chips of the future,” said Miguel Apatiga, a researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico told the media .
