Ryan Garko is heading to San Francisco with the Giants swapping left hander Scott Barnes for the Indian’s first baseman.
Garko, 28, was batting .285 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs in 79 games for Cleveland. Barnes, 21, has a 12-3 record with a 2.85 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 98 innings.
Garko will strengthen the Giant’s offensive line up, one that has struggled with some of the worst stats in the competition.
According to unconfirmed reports, the Indian’s will call up Andy Marte to take Garko’s place on the roster.
