President Barack Obama had to get 12 stitches today after he was elbowed in the face, and it wasn’t even while trying to score some sweet diamonique earrings and an XBox for Michelle at a Black Friday riot .
Mr. Obama was engaging in a little pre-presidenting hoop-shooting when an unnamed fellow player became the guy who gets to tell his grandkids he hit the Commander in Chief in the face and totally got away with it. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs issued a statement about Hopey’s unfortunate basketball-related whack to the kisser:
“After being inadvertently hit with an opposing player’s elbow in the lip while playing basketball with friends and family, the President received 12 stitches today administered by the White House Medical Unit. They were done in the doctor’s office located on the ground floor of the White House.”
President Obama was given local anesthetic, and received smaller stitches that doctors say won’t leave as big of a scar in the area of injury as traditional, larger stitches.
