A 37-year-old woman identified as Amber, who happens to be a cop’s wife, was arrested on DUI and assault charges after a traffic stop turned into a messy confrontation with the police. The situation escalated after she refused to cooperate with the officials and went on to hurl abuses and offensive remarks at the deputies. The body-camera footage released online documented the entire incident, which also showed that the woman had several weapons in the vehicle.
According to the video posted on Police Insider’s YouTube channel, the incident dates back to May 2023, when a heated confrontation began after an officer pulled over a woman, observing that her vehicle was out of the traffic lane. When the officer asked for her driving documentation, she failed to show either of them.
During the stop, the officer asked if she had alcohol and if that was the reason for her slow reaction to things. He also asked if there were any weapons inside the car, and she revealed that there were several firearms, including a .380 gun. The officer then informed her that she was under arrest for DUI and asked her to step out of the car. However, she refused multiple times, telling him, “Absolutely not.”
The officer eventually had to remove her from the car and took her into custody. While the deputies were escorting her in their car, she kept questioning and arguing with them and even hurled abuses at them, prompting the officers to warn her that it could be used against her in a court of law.
Later, the woman’s husband, who is also a police officer, appeared in the video and reportedly made an obscene gesture by showing the middle finger to the officers before they stopped their vehicle. When the officers confronted him, he brushed off the claims by stating that he had to give some stuff to his wife.
Quite visible in the video, the officers had a really tough time taking the woman into custody as she continued resisting them. After arriving at the police station, while officers were busy completing her paperwork formalities, she managed to slip out of her handcuffs. She refused to cooperate with them after they tried to put handcuffs on her again.
The situation escalated after she started threatening the officers and shouting defamatory words at them multiple times. At one point, she could be seen shouting, “I’ll kill you,” further stressing, “My husband is a cop. I’ll ruin you.” She even warned them that they messed with a “wrong Mexican” and that she is a “cop’s wife.” The officers taking control of the situation put additional restraints on her.
Later, a paramedic team came for her medical check-up, and she complained of pain around her wrist and discomfort around her head. However, she refused to be taken to the hospital, and in further investigation, officers recovered a fully loaded .380 lock pistol from her vehicle. The law enforcement official revealed that the weapon also contained a fully loaded six-round magazine and a round in the chamber before it was secured.
