Rumors about Peyton Manning heading to Seattle have been heating up over the last few days but Seahawks G.M. John Schneider said that the future hall of famer may not be in the team’s best interest.
Still, several reports are speculating that Manning, who will find out in the next few weeks if he’ll be wearing a Colts jersey next year, could find his way to Seattle.
Dan Pompei of the National Football Post writes:
“Pete Carroll needs a quarterback and is believed to have a strong interest in at least exploring Manning. The Seahawks could offer Manning an attractive scenario. They have a young team with some fine skill players to put around him.”
Seahawks G.M. John Schneider didn’t deny that the team was interested in Manning, but he did say that he’s looking for a long-term quarterback.
Schneider said:
“I just know if you panic at the position it can set the organization back. So we’re not going to do that. That may disappoint fans, because they want to see an instant guy and have that instant success. But really, you’re better off continuing to build your team. Initially when I got here, I thought we were going to plug the quarterback in and we were going to build around him.”
