31-year-old nurse Keisha Thomas was arrested and charged in Pennsylvania after striking a 93-year-old resident who used a wheelchair in a senior care facility. The two argued over racial remarks.
The surveillance video revealed Thomas hit the elderly woman in the hallway of the facility. The police revealed that during the altercation, Thomas confronted Margaret Vance for making racially targeted comments. She grabbed the 93-year-old and broke five of her teeth.
Yes 100%! This is so gross, nurses are to be therapeutic! When I took care of my grandmother there were things she said that were inappropriate and I corrected her, these are people from a different generation and don’t always have full faculties.

The woman also suffered from facial fractures after Thomas struck her multiple times on her face. The care facility staff helped the elderly and called emergency services. She received treatment and surgery at a local hospital. Authorities charged Thomas with felony aggravated assault and breach of medical care duty.
The video evidence of the horrific incident was shared on X and has over 40K views. Many users expressed their reactions in the comments. One wrote, “Scary for folks who have family members in assisted living.” Another one added, “A lot of youth have resentments towards elderly and white patients as the media keeps harping on the false, negative ‘white colonizer’ and ‘Christian nationalist’ themes.”
“This has been a problem for decades now, with the elderly in these care homes being mistreated. Unfortunately, my grandfather was mistreated in one of these homes, and I wasn’t there at the time; that haunts me to this very day. Always keep an eye on your loved ones,” wrote one more.
The post suggested using a video camera if a family has an elderly parent at an assisted living facility. Many netizens recommended the same and suggested people take care of their parents.

Elder abuse is common in assisted living facilities. A similar incident happened at a Michigan assisted living facility when a 26-year-old Dontia Shawnra Arrington physically assaulted a 93-year-old woman in her care. The family saw bruises on the older woman’s body and decided to install cameras in her room.
The elderly woman had dementia and had no idea what was happening. The chilling surveillance video showed Arrington beat the elderly woman to the point where she ended up with multiple bruises and fractures. Authorities charged her with vulnerable adult abuse, torture with intent to cause cruel or extreme physical and mental pain, and assault with intent to cause bodily harm.
