Just a month after being fired, former Attorney General Pam Bondi is returning to the Trump administration as a member of the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). According to reports, the panel comprises several tech pundits, and her role will be to facilitate coordination between the White House and the tech executives serving on it. The update comes amid Bondi’s simultaneous battle with thyroid cancer.

According to Axios, the panel of PCAST will be headed by former White House AI adviser David Sacks and White House science adviser Michael Kratsios. The panel reportedly also includes several tech billionaires, including Nvidia co-founder Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.

The decision was confirmed by Vice President JD Vance while speaking with the publication, as he said, “Pam has been an enormously valuable asset to the president’s team, and I’m thrilled for her and for all of us that she’s going to remain involved in confronting some of the most important issues the administration faces.”

Sacks also welcomed Bondi on board with a special post on X in which he wrote, “President Trump understands that unnecessary regulation is the biggest threat to innovation in America. Winning the AI race means not only beating China but also clearing bureaucratic hurdles thrown up by state legislatures and woke politicians in DC.”

“No one is better positioned to support PCAST in this mission and to advise the President on legal and regulatory barriers than @PamBondi. Excited to have her on board!” he further added.

On the other hand, the Axios report also states that soon after her ouster from the Department of Justice, the 60-year-old was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She reportedly underwent treatment and is now recovering. Notably, Bondi hasn’t publicly talked about the health scare as yet.

Nonetheless, the news has left several MAGA supporters in sudden shock. Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, wrote on X, “Pam has been quietly kicking cancer’s ass the last few weeks.”

Bondi is the second official in the administration since last year to have been diagnosed with cancer after Susie Wiles, President’s chief of staff announced her breast cancer diagnosis in March.

Notably, Bondi’s appointment comes nearly two months after she was fired from her role as attorney general at the beginning of April. According to CNN, Bondi’s unceremonious exit came over Trump’s frustration on multiple fronts, including her management the Epstein files and the fact that she had not thoroughly investigated or prosecuted political opponents.

Donald Trump made the official announcement about her exit from the role on Truth Social, in which he stated that Bondi would be “transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector.” He also appreciated her work in his administration while maintaining a stoic silence over the reason for her ouster.

Prior to Bondi, it was Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem who was fired from the administration. She was later announced to be appointed as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, which many described as a “made-up role.”
