Police have identified the New Jersey State Police trooper found dead today in a marked State Police car at around 7:30 am in Wall Township.

Scott Graham, 35, of Keyport was spotted in his vehicle by a passing motorist. Graham, a married father of “three young children,” suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. Though police have declined to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the trooper’s death, they have said that no suspects are being sought in relation to the incident.

NJ.com said that inaccurate early reports contributed to rumors about the officer’s death.

Television images showed a cracked hole in the driver’s side window of the car Graham was found in. Shattered glass littered the asphalt.

Dozens of police officers converged on the Parkway and Route 34 this morning to investigate the incident. The Parkway’s exit 98, closed for at least three hours, was reopened at 11:30 a.m., Jones said.

Early reports indicated a possible connection to another vehicle with gunshot holes. (State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen) Jones said that was investigated and found to be inaccurate and unrelated to Graham’s death.

The town of Old Bridge experienced an enhanced police presence shortly after Graham’s body was located due to a information received about a potential suspect, but the report turned out to be a false alarm. Graham was a nine-year veteran of the State Police and was stationed at the State Police academy in Sea Girt.
