A brushfire is threatening homes in Newbury Park outside Los Angeles.
The fire started near the Vallecito Mobile Estates and grew in intensity across the hilly side of Newbury Park.
Ventura County Fire and Los Angeles County Fire Departments are on scene on the sceen attempting to control the blaze. Authorities have closed 2 northbound lanes on Highway 101 in the area
Strong winds in the area are fueling the blaze, however local media reports that the fire he winds are blowing away from houses.
Newbury Park is one of the more affluent areas in the Great Los Angeles Area, and local companies with headquarters in the greater City of Thousand Oaks include Amgen, Baxter International, General Dynamics Corporation, Jafra Cosmetics, J.D. Power and Associates, and Skyworks Solutions.
