Trigger Warning: This article contains references to the sexual abuse of a child that some readers may find distressing.

42-year-old Jeremy Guthrie’s silver truck was pulled over by New Mexico State Police after he was seen making erratic lane changes without signaling. When officers stopped him, they discovered he had a child in the vehicle with him.

Guthrie insisted that she was 18, but officers didn’t believe him. Adding to their concern, when Guthrie stepped out of the truck, his zipper was open, which the officers immediately flagged. The young woman in the passenger seat also refused to confirm her age.

Officers determined Guthrie had been driving under the influence, based on the smell of alcohol on his breath and his slurred speech, and empty bottles of tequila and whiskey were later found in the truck.

Bodycam footage of the traffic stop and additional related footage have been posted to the YouTube channel called EWU Bodycam. A total of six children were found in the truck with Guthrie.

Among them were twin sisters, whose grandmother, Ronda, later called 911 to report that Guthrie had been abusing her 13-year-old granddaughter. When reached out for further questions, she described the situation she found her grandchildren in.

According to Rhonda, Guthrie had assaulted one of the children, referred to as “Jane,” to conceal her identity, and had taken an image and video during the encounter, which he shared with her. Further, Rhonda alleged Jane had suffered a miscarriage at age 12 and that Guthrie was the father.

Guthrie was initially arrested on July 5, 2022, for DUI and child abuse charges, and he was released later. He was taken back into custody after Rhonda and Jane came forward with further allegations. The video shows Guthrie has since been sentenced to prison and will be required to register as a s*x offender upon release.

The case sparked significant outrage online, with one saying, “The fact that the family knew that she was having s*x and had a miscarriage and didn’t step in is insane to me.” Another user wrote, “It’s saddening to realize that this trash was only caught because he didn’t signal while turning.” A third user wrote, “The amount of crimes that get uncovered because someone can’t follow basic traffic laws is nothing short of astounding.”
