Luis Ramirez-Macias, 46, was under police guard at the Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. He attacked Simi Valley Police Officer Carly Grice, who then shot him to get control of the situation.
Police guarded him after he had tried to kill his wife earlier that day. Grice saw that Ramirez-Macias needed medical attention and went to call the hospital staff.

Shortly after the incident, Los Robles stated that everyone was safe and the hospital was operating normally. The statement read, “Our priority remains providing uninterrupted, high-quality care for our patients.”
