Mason County authorities took four people into custody in connection with the premeditated murder of 27-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez on January 4, 2023.

Rodriguez’s body was found near Camp Lyle McLeod on the Tahuya Peninsula. Four people, identified as Jacob Elijah Joe Ulalika, Brenda Maja Hudson-Culp, Crystal Marie Dodson, and Breanna Lynn Stewart, were involved in the homicide.

The investigation of the murder revealed the four people were acting as vigilantes against the child mo–. Deceased’s girlfriend Hudson-Culp told the investigators she had no idea about his murder.

Stewart, Dodson, and Ulalika went along with Hudson-Culp to confront Rodriguez after Stewart’s three-year-old daughter told them he had physically as– her.

On a pretext, the four took Rodriguez from Bremerton to Belfair in Stewart’s grandmother’s car. They stopped the car and then went on a wooden trail, telling Rodriguez they were going to “target practice,” but Ulalika fatally shot Rodriguez. Meanwhile, Hudson-Culp heard the gunshots and was still in the car.

The police investigation footage revealed all four were trying to blame each other without telling the truth. However, detectives searched Brenda’s home and found a handgun that matched the profile of the weapon used to commit the murder. The autopsy revealed Rodriguez’s cause of death was a gunshot wound that pierced through his liver and blunt force trauma on his head. He had two gunshot wounds on his chest and head.

Further investigation revealed the four people devised a plan to abduct Rodriguez and attack him. After his murder, they concealed the crime scene and tried to confuse the authorities with multiple lies. Little did they know the prosecutor had ample evidence to charge them and put them behind bars.

Authorities took all four into custody and held them on bail of $500,000. Their arraignment hearing was scheduled for January 17, 2023. At first they all pleaded not guilty to the charges, but that changed as soon as the trial began. After a several-month-long trial, Judge Monty Cobb sentenced Jacob Elijah Joe Ulalika to 15 years in prison for shooting Rodriguez. He pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder. Brenda Maja Hudson-Culp was sentenced to 12.5 years, and Crystal Marie Dodson was sentenced to 20 years on a second-degree murder charge.

Breanna Lynn Stewart, who pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder, received ten years in prison. Allegations against Alejandro Rodriguez could not be proven formally in the court.
