Miami Dolphins to do list

The Miami Dolphins did a pretty good job of addressing their main needs in the 2011 NFL draft, however they have one significant hole that probably needs an upgrade if this team is to get over the hump and be a playoff team once again. Of course, they probably need a few things to make a legit run at a Super Bowl title, but like the movie, What about Bob states “Baby Steps.” Cleary this team needs an upgrade over Chad Henne, and Tyler Thigpen is not that answer. They will likely look to sign a veteran free agent, or trade for a vet to come in and start. They have done this often in the past at the skill positions and yes, it does get expensive.

Regardless of what they do in free agency, this team has something of a QB crisis on its hands. The current group isn’t good enough to get the job done and Thigpen and Chad Pennington are free agents. The draft did not fall in a way where they could add a top line prospect to fill the need here, so they are stuck in the free agent market to find both an adequate backup, and an upgrade at starter. They could resign Thigpen to be their back up.

The next big issue comes at RB. They drafted Daniel Thomas, and gave up three picks to do so, so we have to assume the plan is for him to come in and carry a big portion of the load. Then they will have to resign Ronnie Brown and possibly Ricky Williams to be their third down back. If Williams is not in their plans, once again they will need to dip into the free agent market to shore up the RB spot.

Other than that, there are not too many free agent concerns and once these two issues get worked out they look like a pretty good team on paper at least.
