Marjorie Taylor Greene Accuses Trump of Planting 'Dangerous' Idea Before 2028 Elections: 'That’s Against Our Laws...'

President Donald Trump recently hinted he might still be president in 2028 or 2032, and now a former MAGA supporter thinks he might actually do it. During a recent interview with Alex Jones, Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene warned that Trump could allegedly use the ongoing Iran conflict to cancel the 2028 elections.

Greene's interview with Jones, conspiracy theorist and right-wing commentator, took a sharp turn when she suggested that Trump would use the Iran war to delay or cancel the 2028 election to stay in power. Speaking to Jones, Greene referenced a past conversation that Trump reportedly had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about elections during wartime. Ukraine postponed elections after Russia's invasion, and Trump dived into that topic during their 2025 meeting with Zelensky. According to Marjorie Taylor Greene, Trump allegedly planned at that time that he would cancel the 2028 elections. While she didn't use the exact words Trump said at that time, she alleged the conversation went something like this: "So you say, during the war, you can’t have elections. So let me just see. Three and a half years from now, so you mean if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? Oh, that’s good." According to Mediate, the comment stayed with Greene long after the meeting. She told Jones:
"I’m concerned. He said it jokingly. But at the same time, knowing President Trump, I looked at that, and I thought, I don’t know if he’s saying it, joking. Jones also replied: "That’s what psychos do."
Greene, who previously warned Trump that a political revolution would take place inside the U.S. if he didn't end the war, claimed that Trump keeps on talking about a third presidential term to "normalize" it. She argued that by repeatedly saying he'll be here in 2028, he's normalizing the idea for the public and "testing" reactions." "So, that type of behavior is someone planting an idea over and over. And again, he constantly says it so that he can normalize the idea and test the support and test people’s reactions." She added, "But saying it over and over and over again normalizes the idea. And I think it’s incredibly dangerous, and no one should ever accept it." Trump's recent remark about being president in 2028 and 2032 sparked severe outrage as people slammed him for "unconstitutional" thinking. Greene also stressed this, insisting that a third term would be against the law and the Constitution. She further added that if the war continues until 2028, elections shouldn't be canceled. She said, "There cannot be a third term, no. That’s against our laws. That’s against the Constitution. There is no third term. And if this country is at war, no, our election should not be canceled, absolutely not." The comments arrived amid growing tension between Greene and Trump. Their political alliance fractured over the past year due to disagreements over the Iran conflict, foreign policy, and the Epstein files. As Greene fiercely voices her opposition to Trump, the 79-year-old has previously called her "wacky" and a "ranting lunatic."
