A Florida salon owner has found herself in legal trouble after being accused of assaulting a customer over the disputed price of a weave. The video of the attack has also gone viral on the internet, while the defendant continues to deny the allegations levied against her. According to ABC Tampa Bay 28, back in October, Kathy Monroe saw an advertisement claiming a $50 hair weave service at Mane Attraction Weaving Studio in Temple Terrace, Florida. She also remembered the salon confirming the price over a call. Monroe claimed that Tyronese Bivens, the salon owner, demanded $130 after the service ended.
“A bait and switch,” Monroe alleged while speaking with the publication. When the victim disputed the charges, Bivens reportedly physically attacked her. The publication also obtained a video that documents the heated exchange between the two.

In the clip, Bivens reaches for the weave stitched into Monroe’s scalp. “Suddenly, my hair was yanked from behind, and my neck was yanked all the way back,” she explained. Later, the salon owner started looking into her purse, apparently looking for her payment. In her scathing retort, Bivens declares, “I’ll do exactly what I wanna do!”
The publication further states that the salon owner called the police. The outlet also obtained bodycam footage from the police showing Bivens telling an officer that Monroe had refused to make the payment. “I got this lady here, got her hair done. She doesn’t wanna pay. She’s getting rowdy. She is acting crazy,” Bivens lashed out in the video.
In her defence, Monroe told the publication that she was ready to make the payment, but not for the demanded amount. “I’m trying to pay her. I’m just not gonna let her hijack me for three times what I thought I was going to pay,” Monroe said in the bodycam footage. As per the outlet, Monroe paid $120 to the salon owner.
The viral clip left many internet users extremely shocked as one user said, “Take the owner to civil court! $5k will do it!” Another user said, “False advertisement, then proceeds to assault her. Lock her up and terminate her cosmetology license.”

The victim recorded the video and shared it with the publication. It has also been reported that a dermatologist determined Monroe had lasting hair loss. She also expressed remorse, stating that she would “never” be the same and that she would have to rely on wigs or clip-ins.
Monroe also told the outlet that she filed an official complaint against Bivens with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. However, the department that oversees cosmetology licenses has closed her complaint, citing the incident as “civil in nature” and noting that it falls outside its “statutory jurisdiction.”
Florida prosecutors this week indicted Bivens with misdemeanour battery and criminal mischief. Per the business records, she still holds her professional license. Officials said they did not find enough evidence to pursue felony charges in the case. Bivens, meanwhile, denied the allegations in comments to ABC and accused Monroe of lying, but did not share further details.
