The Marco Rubio “bigot” comment on gay marriage is directed at those who say that opposition to same-sex marriage automatically makes a person a bigot.
The last time Marco Rubio really made the new is when Rubio awkwardly reached for water while critiquing President Obama’s State of the Union address. The internet sensation became so large that official Marcio Rubio “reaches for water” bottles became hot sellers that funded Rubio’s Political Action Committee (PAC).
Florida Senator Marco Rubio made his “bigot” comment during a defense of conservative family values at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) outside Washington, saying, “Just because I believe that states should have the right to define marriage in the traditional way does not make me a bigot.”
CPAC features numerous potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates over three days, including Marco Rubio, Rand Paul (R-KY), Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. Mitt Romney, last year’s failed GOP nominee, and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin are also making appearances.
Marco Rubio also spoke out on abortion, saying, “Just because we believe that life, all life, all human life is worthy of protection of every stage in its development does not make you a chauvinist.”
Marco Rubio also claimed that science was on his side, claiming that “the people who are actually close-minded in American politics are the people that love to preach about the certainty of science when regards to our climate but ignore the absolute fact that science is proven that life begins at conception.”
