Police in Orange County, Florida said that they arrested a man visiting Epcot Center from Italy with his family. They say the man got into an argument with his wife and child and then kicked his three year old son in the face. The man was placed under arrest Saturday afternoon. He was released on a $2,000 bond.
Central Florida News 13 reports Dario Napolitano, a doctor on a visit from Italy, grew agitated with his family while the were touring Epcot’s World Showcase. According to the police report the family was in the Mexico exhibit when Napolitano kicked his son in the face.
The report further said that the child was already crying and his mother was screaming “No, No, No” when Napolitano allegedly kicked him in the face. Detective wrote that the child was treated for a cut below his left eye, bruising above his eyebrow and his entire left eye was swollen.
According to the arrest report, an Epcot employee “went up to the child and saw that his face was bloody and the child was crying hysterically.”
As related through a translator the mother and Napolitano told a different story to the police, which was noted in the police report.
They said,
“He yelled at him a second time to stop and he complied throwing [the younger son] out of the stroller on the ground. He went up to his son [the older son] and slapped him twice across the face because he hurt his brother.”
The Florida Department of Children and Families was also on the scene to investigate whether there was any danger to the child.
DCF spokesperson Carrie Hoeppner told Central Florida News,
“Although we were briefly able to speak with that father while he was incarcerated, we still haven’t been able to see that child and really get a hands on assessment about what’s going on with that family,”
