Magic Johnson Roasts Lebron During Recent Speech in Albany

Legendary NBA Hall-of-famer Magic Johnson took a few shots at LeBron James during a recent speech at University of Albany when he was asked about his own legacy as one of the league’s greatest players.

“There’s always going to be guys who win championships in the NBA,” Johnson said, pausing dramatically before adding the punchline “except Lebron.”

After Johnson’s joke was greeted with roaring laughter from the crowd, the Laker-great continued on his LeBron roast making references at James’ tendency to fizzle late in games — as seen in the 2010 – 2011 NBA finals series against the Mavericks where he averaged just three points during each of the games’ fourth quarters.

“I love the young man,” quipped Johnson, a five-time NBA champion, 12-time All-Star and three-time MVP. “I know he’s going to get better in the fourth quarter this year.”

Following the Lebron-tirade, which was obviously done in jest (as you will see in the video below), Johnson made it a point to send some love the King’s way, assuring the crowd, “I’m not hating on LeBron. He’s a triple-double threat every single game and he’s going to get better.”

Check out Magic Johnson’s insult-fest for yourself and chime in with your thoughts on the matter. All in good humor or out of line?
