The New York Jets have made an offer to free-agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie. The deal comes after the Jets lost out on Nnamdi Asomugha to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cromartie had a decent season last year while playing opposite Darrelle Revis and he is also considered a talented returner.
New York is making leeway for the 2011-2012 season after signing receiver Plaxico Burress earlier in the day, then providing quarterback Mark Sanchez with more power after re-signing Santonio Holmes.
The Jets will have to offer Cromartie a pretty nice deal to stay with the team as other organizations have expressed interest in signing him to their roster.
