Jardine Cribs is recalling nearly 100,000 of its wooden crib units over safety concerns, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced. The slats in the cribs can break and lead to a child become trapped or strangled. The CPSC says it’s seen 31 such cases, including two in which children did become entrapped in the resulting gap.

Jardine Crib Recall 2009: The Details

The Jardine crib recall affects seven Jardine models, identified by model number and date code. You can find this information on the inside of the headboard or footboard’s bottom rail.

The Jardine cribs were sold at KidsWorld, Geoffrey Stores, Toys “R” Us, and Babies “R” Us stores all across America. You can find photos of each of the affected models on the CPSC site here.

Jardine Crib Recall 2009: What to Do

If you have one of the cribs listed above, you’re advised to stop using it immediately and contact Jardine for a credit toward a new crib. You can do so either by calling 1-800-646-4106 (between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday), or by visiting jardinecribrecall.com .

Past Jardine Crib Recalls

This isn’t the first time Jardine has had to issue a crib recall. Just this past January, the company called back more than 56,000 cribs over a similar safety concern, and last June, the company recalled 320,000 cribs due to the same issue.
