JD Vance has been asked multiple times about his plans for the 2028 presidential elections. He has always explained that he is more focused on his role as the Vice President. But now that National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard has resigned from her role, there are claims that Vance is alone.

According to the Daily Mail report, Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation implied Vance was “more isolated than ever” in the cabinet. As a result, he may not even consider running for the 2028 presidential elections. Gabbard’s resignation follows the March departure of Joe Kent. He stepped down from the administration over the Iran war.

With both Kent and Gabbard gone, Vance does not have two of his supporters. Gabbard’s resignation came after her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. After her resignation, a source told the Daily Mail, “Vance is a non-event in the West Wing.”

Vance’s isolation is further intensified as Marco Rubio is being considered as a better candidate. Even Donald Trump could not resist pitting Rubio and Vance against each other. He asked the audience who they would prefer.

Meanwhile, Vance’s spokesperson also clarified the air around the rumor that Vance is now isolated. He called it “just a flimsy compilation of completely illegitimate sources who have no idea what they’re talking about.”

Another White House insider told the Daily Mail, “The President has made it very clear in recent months that he doesn’t abide by this strong, silent Gary Cooper style approach to foreign policy. He’s loud, he’s active. These guys prefer to speak softly and carry a big stick, but Trump speaks loudly and carries a massive cannon.”

Vance advised Trump against a full-scale invasion of Iran and instead to go for a small-scale operation. After this, Trump ended up labeling Vance as “less enthusiastic” at the beginning of the strike. Gabbard has criticized the administration’s regime change war. The insider also noted, “Rubio has more mojo than Vance. The President listens to him. Vance is out of step and has been for a long time.”

Skipping the 2028 elections may be a tactical career move for Vance.

However, the insider pointed out that Vance is 41. He still has time to reemerge later. Not everyone agreed with this, as another insider told the publication that there’s a small window of opportunity here.

The source said, “And if you don’t go when that window is open, most likely it never opens up again.” Later on, Vance will have to stay politically relevant for the 2032 and 2036 elections. The source explained, “Age-wise, he’d be young enough. But momentum-wise, there’d be a shinier penny on the street.”
