Police bodycam footage captured Anthony Jimenez, a 26-year-old Illinois man, admitting to fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Jessica Reyes, 24, after a domestic argument in a Villa Park apartment. 

Villa Park police responded to a call reporting a domestic altercation on July 17, 2024, around 10.50 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Michigan Avenue. The bodycam video showed Jimenez met officers at the door with blood on his hands and chest. He tried explaining what had happened.

The first responders can also be seen administering life-saving measures to Reyes in a bedroom. At one point, she was breathing, but they failed to revive her. She was rushed to the local hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 11.26 a.m. 

In the footage shared by Midwest Safety, the officer can be heard asking, “What happened?” He replied, “I just lost it, man. We got into an argument.” The officer inquired, “Who was with her?” “My mom. I was holding her neck. I just snapped. I just snapped,” replied the accused. After the officer informed him about his Miranda rights, he was taken into custody.

Jimenez told the officer, “I hope she is (alive). She’s still breathing.” His mom took the knife that he used to stab his girlfriend with. He explained the situation to the officers, “We got into an argument about another guy who was dissin’ stuff, and she told me it was over and went upstairs to grab her stuff, and then we started talking some more and then at that point.”

He continued, “I’m not going to lie, I lost it. I freaked out, and I told her no, please, no, no, no, no. I started crying, and I panicked, and I just started stabbing her. And I may have stabbed her. And just in general, I got tired of her disrespecting me, talking sh– to me, putting me down all the time.

He claimed that he knew he was depressed. He added, “I told her to stop, and then I started going at her. We started arguing again, and then we started fighting, and then I stabbed her. I stabbed her like 9 times.”

During their argument, when Reyes tried to leave, Jimenez blocked the door, so she climbed down the third-floor balcony to the parking lot. He followed her out, and after much back-and-forth, they calmed down and went back inside.

However, their argument further escalated, and Jimenez took out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Reyes. He only stopped stabbing her when his mother came into the room. He told the officers his mom was sleeping earlier. In the bodycam video, the mother is crying and shocked after the tragic incident.

There were 12 stab wounds on Reyes’ neck, chest, arms, hand, and jaw. Jimenez was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Jimenez appeared in court on July 29, 2026, where his speedy trial demand was denied. He’ll appear next in court on September 14, 2026. He may face sentencing of 20 to 60 years in prison, according to Illinois state law.

Midwest Safety’s bodycam video has garnered over 228K views on YouTube. Viewers expressed shock in the comments as one wrote, “The complete disregard for another person’s life never ceases to sadden & amaze me. For goodness sake, end the relationship, not her life.”

One more posted, “I’m so sick of this ‘disrespect’ excuse for violent responses. In life you will encounter disrespect.” If you can’t bear it, leave your partner; if it’s job related, find another job. If it’s in a bar or restaurant, leave, walk away. It’s a temporary feeling. Getting arrested, trial and then a prison sentence is not worth it.” Another one asked, “Over 2 years waiting for justice even though he’s on camera admitting to everything?’
