President Donald Trump has sparked another controversy as he piggybacks on religious beliefs to justify losing in California elections.

According to a viral X video shared by @HQNewsNow, Trump said that California’s voting system is “rigged” and “dishonest” because of widespread mail-in ballots.

Trump, who appears to be speaking to reporters in the clip, told them:

“You have a rigged vote out there. That’s the problem. The votes are rigged.”

“You have a really rigged vote in California. You have all the mail-in ballots, everything else. It’s very hard to win because the elections are very dishonest.”

What really sparked controversy was his comment about Jesus Christ. In the same clip, he told the reporters that he would have won if Jesus Christ had counted the votes for him because he’s “great with Hispanics.” Trump said:

“If we had Jesus Christ come down and count the votes, I would have won California. Because I do great with Hispanics, but it’s a rigged vote. They send out 38 million votes. Nobody knows where they’re going.”

During the 2024 elections, Trump made similar claims, saying, “If we had Jesus Christ come down and count the votes, I would have won California.” This was after he lost to Kamala Harris, who had 58.5 percent of the state vote, while he had only 38.3 percent.

The comment has sparked outrage as people notice the increasingly faith-based political messaging that isn’t supported by actions. Many users condemned him for using God’s name in vain.

User @Robbo24a wrote:

“Why be disrespectful toward Jesus? Is that really the way we talk about him? How do Christians find this acceptable? I guess they just ignore it like the rest of his garbage.”

User @CBJMAD said:

“Thats just disgusting to say about Jesus.

Seriously MAGA, how many times and ways does Trump need to show u he isnt Christian, annoited or even good. Nothing but a Rich SUIT Stealing from u in the name of JESUS

Why does MAGA hate JESUS and AMERICA?”

Another two users added:

@OttoBraun1976:

“He’s such a disingenuous, blasphemous jacka-s. He figures throwing out the words “Jesus Christ” will get some of his base to think he’s religious.”

@GallihughDeb:

“The non christian is attaching Jesus to everything he does and that’s what cons do, it’s blasphemous and the bible warns us about guys like Trump who exploit Jesus’s name to get away with their crimes.”

The fact that he added the “Hispanic” angle to his message made many people question if he thinks Jesus is Hispanic. User @hsalFnedduS said:

“Now he thinks Jesus was Hispanic?”

Meanwhile, User @madonovan3 claimed:

“Real Believers in Jesus Christ do not speak like this…”

This comes after Rep. María Elvira Salazar compared Trump to God this week.

The reaction has yet again revived discussion about Trump’s previous controversies involving religious imagery and symbolism. One of the most recent ones to spark online debate was his AI-generated image of him healing people in Christ-like attire.

In April 2026, he posted an AI-generated image of Trump in a Jesus-like pose, appearing to heal a sick man in a hospital bed. The Truth Social post faced massive backlash from both sides of the U.S. political spectrum, including some of his own supporters, and he eventually had to delete it.
