Karen Kraushaar hoped to remain anonymous after she came forward with another female employee of the National Restaurant Association to file a sexual harassment claim against Herman Cain but her identity was revealed this week after her name was released along with her $45,000 settlement. Now the spokeswoman for the U.S. Treasury Department says she’s ready to come forward and she hopes other women will join her.
Speaking to the Washington Post Kraushaar said of the situation:
“I am interested in a joint press conference for all the women where we would all be together with our attorneys and all of these allegations could be reviewed as a collective body of evidence.”
Karen also spoke with the New York Times and revealed that she’s only now willing to speak out because her name was placed into the public forum.
“When you are being sexually harassed in the workplace, you are extremely vulnerable. You do whatever you can to quickly get yourself into a job someplace safe, and that is what I thought I had achieved when I left.”
Under her settlement with the National Restaurant Association a confidentiality agreement was originally signed, an agreement that barred her from discussing the incident. Last week that agreement was lifted and Karen’s name was revealed to the public.
