German Post Office Caught Printing Nazi Stamps

Deutsche Post has been caught issuing stamps bearing the image of nazi official Rudolf Hess, according to wire reports.

Deutsche Post apparently printed 20 stamps with Hess next to a bouquet of flowers as part of a custom printing service. Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany, and there were also concerns that the mistake would offend Jewish groups.

Deutsche Post apologized for the error.

Hess was known in later years as the longest serving German post war prison, eventually committing suicide in his cell in 1986.
