In 2017, 17-year-old Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Bjorge and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Johnny Rider, fantasized about being modern-day Bonnie and Clyde, and decided to go on a crime spree, beginning with the murder of Cassie’s grandparents. The minor later confessed that they had more names from their family on their hit list.
In April 2017, Georgia teen Cassie and her boyfriend, Johnny, were arrested for the murders of her 63-year-old grandparents, Randall and Wendy Bjorge, in their Lawrenceville home. Police discovered the bodies during a welfare check at their residence. According to Fox 5, cops arrested the teen couple after a SWAT standoff at an apartment complex.

The teens used a tire iron, hammer, baseball bat, and butcher knives to carry out the killings. Bjorge and Rider caulked three doors in the house, including the front door, so that the smell of decomposing dead bodies would not escape the house.
Bjorge later told investigators that she stayed at her grandparents’ house for days after the murder. She also revealed that she smoked marijuana and partied with her friends. When in custody, Bjorge confessed that she and her partner, Johnny, were also planning to kill her mother and his family members, WSB reported, quoting Gwinnett County Police Detective Dave Brucz.

In a recorded confession, Bjorge said that Rider abandoned those plans after noticing cars he did not recognize parked in the family’s driveway. The couple had also attempted to kill Johnny’s sister, Mindy, and her boyfriend. The convicted teens hit the sister and her partner with a baseball bat, and then fled the scene in the sister’s car, leaving behind the grandparents’ car outside her apartment.
Mindy later helped authorities capture Bjorge and Rider, a week after the murder of the grandparents. Police spotted Bjorge’s grandparents’ car outside Mindy’s apartment, which led officers to conduct a welfare check at the Bjorge family home. After forcing their way inside, officers found the bodies of the grandparents. Authorities stated that the doors had been shut and blocked.

Investigators later tracked down the stolen vehicle in Suwanee. A SWAT robot was used to locate Cassie Bjorge and Johnny Rider, who were suffering from self-inflicted injuries in what appeared to be a s**cide attempt.
On April 13, 2017, Gwinnett County officials charged both teens with the brutal killings of the 63-year-old couple. Later, on February 2, 2018, Cassie Bjorge and Johnny Rider pleaded guilty to all charges. Each received life sentences for the double murder and for attacking Johnny Rider’s sister, reported CBS News.
During sentencing, Johnny apologized to the Bjorge family. “I know what I have done is abominable and evil and is deserving of hellfire,” Rider said, per the news outlet. “I would like to express my deepest apologies to the Bjorge family. I’m so sorry for the pain and grief I have caused all of you.” Cassie chose not to say anything.
