A former Orange County prosecutor, Matt Murphy, sat down for a discussion on Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance case. On the podcast, “Prof Jo Explains” on YouTube, Murphy gave his opinion on who the assailant could be.

He stated, “I will bet my bottom dollar that this guy, whoever he is, turns out to be a known dude in the jail of Pima County, and I would not be at all surprised—and this is based just on my own jaded lens—if this guy hasn’t been a frequent flyer and released on some ridiculous social justice program,” as reported by Parade.

He added, “I would not be at all surprised to see it.”

It has been almost two months since 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home. Mother to “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, Nancy’s case became one of the most covered cases in recent times.

As reported by Kold News 13, there has been no significant progress in identifying the suspect. Even Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that the investigation is continuing, and it would take time before any concrete information is released.

Nanos said, “We continue to plod along, I know that nobody wants to hear that, that they want it fast, I do too.”

He added, “But sometimes you have to put aside expediency for doing the job right, and sometimes things aren’t in our control.” Murphy, however, criticized Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos and Pima County Attorney Laura Conover. He labeled their investigation a “clown show,” as reported by Parade.

Recently, Savannah Guthrie offered more insight into how her mother’s home looked when she went missing, as reported by the New York Post

In an interview, Savannah revealed, “The doors were propped open, there was blood on the front doorstep and the Ring camera had been yanked off.”

Then she stressed, “So we were saying, ‘This is not OK.’ We thought she must have had some kind of medical episode in the night, and that somehow the paramedics had come, because the back doors were propped.”

However, the reality set in, as “her phone was there, her purse was there and all her things. It just didn’t make sense.”

Nancy’s home security system caught a masked intruder trying to break in. On that, Savannah said, “It’s just absolutely terrifying.” She further added while breaking down in tears, “It’s just totally terrifying, and I can’t imagine that that is who she saw standing over her bed.”

Ever since the case became public, many have come forward with theories on what could have happened to Nancy.

Theories circulated that Nancy Guthrie was abducted through the rugged terrain behind her home. However, a former Arizona SWAT commander rejected that claim.

Bob Krieger said in an interview that, “There’s no way they’re bringing her back this way. If they got there that way, they clearly had to go out the front,” as reported by the New York Post.

The Guthrie family has also asked for help from anyone with information and has issued a $1 million reward.
