The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of all Evenflo Envision High Chairs. The chairs could put children in danger, the organization says.
Evenflo High Chair Recall: The Problem
The Evenflo Envision High Chairs have fasteners and metal screws that can loosen on their own and then fall out, the CPSC indicates. As a result, the back of the seat could fall back or even detach altogether without notice, causing a child to fall backwards or fall from the chair completely. What’s more, the fallen fasters and screws could pose a choking hazard.
So far, Evenflo reports receiving more than 300 reports of such incidents occurring. Nineteen children have suffered bumped or bruised heads, while a few dozen others have been hurt in other ways.
Evenflo High Chair Recall: The Specifics
About 643,000 Evenflo Envision High Chairs are being recalled. The chairs are sold at numerous chain stores all across America. Toys ‘R’ Us, Babies ‘R’ Us, and K-Mart are among the places they could have purchased. The Evenflo Envision High Chairs were in stores between December 2002 and April 2006.
Model numbers (which can be found on a white label on the back of the seat) include: 2891321, 2891321A, 2891333, 2891351, 2891351A, 2891365, 2891375, 2891403, 2891403A, 2891466, 2891466A, 2891478, 2891536, 2891536A, 2891573, 2891586, 2892351 and 2892351A.
